Monarka is an expense tracker built from Latin America: real multi-currency, credit cards with installments the way you actually use them every month, loans with their full amortization schedule, and recurring rules that materialize on their own. The beta is free while we build it. Here is what already works.

Vaults and accounts

Accounts do not live loose — they group into vaults. A “Personal” vault, a “Business” one, another shared with your partner: each vault has its own display currency and holds accounts in pesos, dollars, guaraníes, reais, euros, or Chilean pesos. Every movement is modeled with double-entry postings — balances always reconcile and transfers between accounts capture the exchange rate at the time.

Credit cards with installments

Cards have real cycles: closing day, due day, and a linked account for payments. When you make a purchase you can say how many installments to split it into, and the app creates the N child transactions automatically, without duplicating the balance. Paying the card is modeled as a transfer from a regular account — including across currencies.

Loans with amortization

Bank, mortgage, or personal: enter principal, interest rate and term, and Monarka computes the full schedule with three methods (French, German or simple) and three rate types (total fixed, nominal annual or monthly). Every installment lives as a child transaction so you see what is next without setting anything else up. Turn on auto-payment and the recurring rule posts it for you.

Recurring rules

Subscriptions, rent, salary, building fees — any movement that repeats. Rules materialize into real transactions (they are not computed every time you open the dashboard) and you can choose whether they auto-post or stay pending for confirmation. The engine understands months with different lengths: a rule on the 31st lands on the last day of a short month, no overflow.

Net worth (optional)

If you want to see beyond the month-to-month flow, there is a switch in Settings → Preferences that turns on Properties and Investments. Properties (real estate, vehicles, collectibles) take manual valuations and can be tied to a mortgage loan. Investments live in INVESTMENT-type accounts, with holdings (stocks, ETFs, bonds, crypto, funds) and manual prices — no API yet, but realized P/L is computed using weighted-average cost.

Onboarding

Four short steps on first sign-in: name, first vault, an account, optionally a card. No modal tour, no sample data, no tooltips on top. If you skip the optional steps you still land on the dashboard with a contextual checklist that reminds you of the first moves. When you are done, dismiss it.

Bilingual marketing site

The landing and support pages (about, contact, comparison with Actual Budget, help, legal and this changelog) are in Spanish by default and in English under /en. The app itself is in Spanish for now — translation of the authenticated interface ships in a future release.

Mobile-first

The whole `(app)` is designed for phones: slim navbar, bottom tab bar with FAB, drawers instead of sheets for short forms, tables that turn into cards, calendar as an agenda. Opening Monarka on a phone is not a scaled-down version — it is the native one.

What is next

The beta exists to discover what is missing alongside you. The short queue: translating the `(app)` to English, bank integrations to import movements, per-category budgeting, CSV/PDF export, and more automated DCA methods for investments. If you find something broken or wish it were different, reach out via the contact page.
